On September 12, 2024, the entrance ceremony was held for 13 exchange students under the AIMS/PEACE program for FY2024 (6 from Kasetsart University in Thailand, 5 from Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in Indonesia, and 2 from the Royal University of Phnom Penh in Cambodia). The students were a little nervous, but they all smiled after the friendly greetings from the AIMS working group professors.

A welcome reception was held by Prof. CAIGOY JANT CRES CAINGLET, Associate Prof.(Special Appointment) XEDZRO CHRISTIAN, Associate Prof. LIAO LAWRENCE MANZANO, the Student Support Office staff, and many current students.
A total of more than 100 students enjoyed communication games and deepened exchanges. The exchange students, who were reserved at first, actively interacted with each other and became completely comfortable with one another, and started their study abroad life at Hiroshima University.

As one of the Japanese cultural experiences, the students tried on yukata, a summer kimono. The students listened attentively and asked many questions about the differences between kimono and yukata, the roots of hakama and kimono, and types of kimono, as well as TPO (time, place, and occasion) of wearing kimono etc. Afterwards, the students enjoyed taking pictures and videos here and there, which seemed to be the first step toward cross-cultural experience and understanding.
